Ship Shape TV: A TV Show About Boats That Isn't Miami Vice

I think I discovered Ship Shape TV while cruising around YouTube a couple years ago and I have to say I love it. My love for the show is partly because there really is not much on TV or online dedicated to boaters but the host John Greviskis has a great personality and is really passionate about boats. Most of the content revolves around repairs and maintenance for all types of boats. I don’t have cable, so the best place to watch it is YouTube and although it doesn’t really cater to performance boats, it still is fun to watch.

Some of the good episodes involve wiring tips, transom replacement, stringers, fuel tanks and other upgrades. I will try and reach out to John to get an update on the status of the show but check it out if you can.

John is from the Lake Erie area of Ohio and you can tell he is a dedicated boater. He studies theater and acting, moved on to radio and had his own advertising agency. Later, Ship Shape TV was born and it has been really popular. The show has been on for 21 seasons. Ship Shape TV was syndicated on several different sports channels over the years, so you may have seen it flipping channels trying to find football highlights. I heard John Greviskis was at the Miami Boat Show last year and I didn’t know until after, Which sucked because I would love to meet him.

Wave to Wave is going to be doing a restoration project soon, I’ll see if I can get John to help out somehow, even if it is to just drink beer after it’s done and talk about boats.
