Chaudron Pro S-22: A Capable Dynamic Performance Boat

When it comes to most performance boats there is always a compromise when it comes to the most important variables. Speed, rough water capability, price, quality and practicality. Although the options are not as plentiful these days when it comes to compact performance boats, a few standout and the Chaudron Pro S-22 separates itself with rough water capability and quality. The fit and finish is tremendous, the capability is well documented being a race boat over seas for a long time. You simply can’t find too many boats in this category that can also fill pleasure duty. Let’s take a look at the details. I have included a video overview as well.

Specifications:

Overall length 22 ft

Maximum beam 6 ft

Approx. weight without engine 1,750 Lbs

The orange one in the video is a customers boat that was custom ordered with orange gelcoat, blue hardware and matching interior. Some trick swim steps were fabricated at Chaudron, a true custom builder, and the result is one of the most eye popping boats I’ve seen in a while. The deep V Chuadron 22 turned heads everywhere. The Mercury Racing 300R was custom painted white and matching orange stripes.

One great thing about the 22 is that it is probably perfect for the V6 225 Mercury four stroke or 250R. The size and weight of the hull make the 300R a ton of power for it. That said, the extra power won’t go unnoticed with passengers. This boat should be in the mid 90s but the real magic of this boat is the ability to slice waves at a high rate of speed.

Custom everything on this Chaudron 22. Really cool swim steps were fabricated and topped with Seadek. Hardware was custom blue to match.

I remember running the Chaudron Pro S-25 in Biscayne bay on a gusty day and it rode like a Cadillac in some nasty chop. The narrow beam and deep deadrise is peerless in rough water. Balance, and the twin steps help it run nice and flat with no drama. Like any small boat, above 85 MPH or so, it becomes more of a drivers boat. That’s when a non step pad boat has an advantage, but not when it’s really rough, the Chaudron has the advantage there.

Wave slicer. The narrow beam and deep deadrise is the secret sauce.

We will be testing a Chaudron SV 27 soon with a 450R, which is a pretty deadly combination. This orange 22 is a very impressive compact rocket. Unfortunately we didn't’ have time to do a full water test on the 22 but will have some updates from the owner I’m sure. The rigging and overall result was just incredible.

The Chaudron boars are sold through Norwester Marine Group in Miami Florida and rigged at TNT Custom Marine, a premier performance shop specializing in rigging, sales and service, also based in Miami.

The seats and interior are exceptional in all the Chaudron boats. Everything is done in-house.
