Grabber Blue Chaudron 300R: Classic Color for a Timeless Hull

Grabber Blue Chaudron 300R: Classic Color for a Timeless Hull

The first thing you notice about the latest Chaudron Pro S25 is the stunning color. The sleek offshore hull has incredible lines on it’s own, but the way the Ford Grabber Blue color works on this hull is something else. Chaudron painted the boat with Awlcraft 2000, including the black GT stripe and with the dark gray interior, the boat exudes its racing pedigree in a classy way. For the customer, this one was special and made to his spec. Let’s take a look.

The Mercury Racing 300R HD CMS is the perfect match for the Chaudron 25. Amazing torque and overall performance. The 25 can cruise in the 60 MPH range and run high 80s.

Featuring a Mercury Racing 300R DTS, sport master gearcase and bolted to a 8” Bob’s race lite jack plate, this power is perfect for the Chaudron 25. With just a 6’ beam but a solid 2,200 lb dry weight, the hull makes perfect use of all that torque. These boats run really nice in a chop and have a 24 degree hull, with 2 steps. This one is running a Max 5 ST 28”. Additional items include a JL stereo, swim steps, and carbon fiber features in the dash and seats. Instead of running gauges, the owner opted for two Simrad NXT 7 screens.

On the water for the preliminary run, the boat accelerates incredibly, as the Max 5 has bites really hard. The steering is Mercury electro-assist, with a Gen C pump and a Uflex SVS cylinder. This provides robust steering when running the gearcase really high and using big props that generate loads of torque on the wheel. You lose a bit of feel from a straight hydraulic, but it’s really comfortable to run, like a luxury car.

During the break in, I ran it conservatively and the Mercury Racing 300R effortlessly accelerates to the mid 70s. I found a comfortable cruise at around 65 MPH and 4600 RPM, with gearcase about a quarter inch above. You can run it much higher. This would put the boat at around 88 MPH at 6,200 RPM, using some math based on the prop slip with those numbers. That’s typical for these hulls, this one is a little heavier with the extra battery and stereo equipment.

The Ford Grabber Blue color absolutely pops on this boat. Painted with Awlcraft 2000 for a really durable finish.

Overall, the fit and finish is really amazing. With dark gray interior that uses a cool touch fabric, the cockpit has all the creature comforts you’d want but has a race boat feel. You sit deep in the cockpit and the bolster seats are very comfortable with serious lateral support. Passengers get grab handles, there is storage in the gunnels, and a small pocket for personal stuff. The bow is finished with carpet, providing extra storage. This one also has swim steps.

The customer will be running the Chaudron in central Florida and it will standout as there are only a few Chaudrons in the country. This is an excellent hull for the V8 300R.
